Here are some poetry events coming up in September and don’t forget our own Anne Stewart is reading at the Poetry Cafe on the 29th.


Tuesday 2nd September

Beyond Words

Holly Hopkins & Ian McEwen

Plus open mic

Tuesday 9th September

Southeast London Poetry Network in conjunction with Made in Greenwich Gallery

Chrissie Gittins and Wendy French

With poet/musicians Bernadette Reed and Jazzman John Clarke.

Made in Greenwich, 324 Creek Road, Greenwich, London SE10 9SW

7.30pm    Tickets  £5 (£4 concessions) to include interval drinks and nibbles.



Sunday 14th September

John Betjeman guided walk: Lance Pierson leads a walk around Highgate to see the places where John Betjeman was born, brought up and went to school and to hear the poems he wrote about them. Warning: West Hill is a very steep climb!

Walks start at Kentish Town Station.

Sunday 21st September

John Milton guided walk:Lance Pierson leads a walk around the places where John Milton lived and worked in the City of London and Lance reads some of the poems he wrote there.

Walks start at Mansion House Underground Station (Exit No 4, signed to Bow Lane and St Paul’s Cathedral).

Saturday 27th September

Gale Burns and Jill Abram present


featuring Mimi Khalvati & work from the highly respected Versification Course

The Poetry Café, Betterton St, Convent Garden WC1

Entry £6/4    Refreshments from bar

7.30 – 9.30


Monday 29th September

Martyn Crucefix, June English and Anne Stewart

Readers from the floor are welcome: 1 poem, up to say 50 lines.

The Poetry Cafe, 22 Betterton Street.
