SPC Meeting on Tues: Oct. 14th. 2014

Seamus Heaney and Ted Hughes

Two poets who wrote strongly and unforgettably about the natural world and more besides. Thanks to Ann Barlow who in advance of our readings gave us a biography of each poet and mentioned their published work.

Maybe because the death of Seamus Heaney is so fresh in our minds, members chose more of his poems than those of Ted Hughes and what came across strongly was the sheer range that was represented – from blackberries and fountain pens to the funeral of Beowulf all read and shared with enthusiasm.
